Adventures in Learning: A Peek into Lower Elementary

At Springwell, learning is all about curiosity, creativity, and, of course, a lot of fun! Our Lower Elementary students dive into hands-on activities, imaginative play, and projects that make their brains buzz. Here’s a peek at what our young learners have been up to lately.

Crafting a "Talking Piece" and Setting Discussion Rules

We love a good chat, and what better way to kick things off than by making our own "talking piece"! Using colorful pipe cleaners, we twisted and shaped a unique leaf to represent our ideas coming together.

After setting our discussion rules, we practiced with the big question: “What would we do if we found a dinosaur egg?” The answers were hilarious and creative—our dry erase boards and papers were filled with ideas!

Fishing for Letters and Counting Sticks

In English Language Arts, some students fished for letters, while others wrote stories about their favorite holidays, complete with colorful drawings.

Our favorite game? One person shakes the dry erase board, another writes something down, and we all try to guess or read it. So many giggles!

Leafy Math and a Science Experiment

Math + nature? Yes, please!

During math, we used sticks to tackle subtraction problems, physically removing them as we solved each one. Then we got creative—painting the sticks in bright colors and turning math into art!

Our budding mathematicians collected leaves and used them to create subtraction problems. We taped down the leaves and wondered: how long will it take for them to turn brown? Predictions ranged from 95 to 100 days, so now we’re watching, waiting, and documenting as the leaves change. Science in action!

There's still time to join our community of young learners! Your child will benefit from lots of individualized attention in an engaging, supportive, and kind environment. Plus, if you're thinking ahead to Kindergarten next year, be sure to apply early to reserve your spot.

At Springwell, every day is filled with learning, laughter, and discovery. Our small class sizes and big imaginations make it the perfect place for children to grow. Want to learn more? Reach out today and see what makes our school such a special place to thrive!
